Postpartum doulas are the people who show up after everyone else has gone home. When the casseroles stop coming and the visitors stop visiting, I am still there.
As a postpartum doula, I provide hands-on support during the fourth trimester. That looks like newborn care, feeding support, help with baby's cues, and just having a calm and experienced presence in your home when everything still feels brand new.
As a certified pediatric sleep consultant, I work with families whose babies, toddlers, and preschoolers are not sleeping well. Whether your four month old is suddenly fighting every nap or your two year old has never once slept through the night, I help you understand what is going on and build a realistic plan that actually works for your child and your family.

Hi I'm Joy!
I did not come to this work through a textbook. I came to it the way most parents come to everything: by living it.
Honestly, my love for babies and new moms started long before motherhood. I was the neighborhood babysitter at ten years old, the one who always gravitated toward the new baby at every family gathering, the person friends called when they did not know what to do with a crying newborn. This has always been my thing.
Then I became a mother of four myself, and those early years taught me more than any certification ever could. I remember the exhaustion that settles into your bones. The questions that show up at 3am. The quiet worry that you are somehow getting it all wrong. What I wanted more than anything during that season was someone calm and experienced who could sit down next to me and say, "You are doing fine. Let's figure this out."
Nobody showed up. So eventually, I became that person.
When my grandson Henry was born, something clicked. He was the catalyst that finally pushed me to stop saying someday and actually go for it. I got certified, I got trained, and I got to work.
Today I am a DONA Certified Postpartum Doula, Lactation Specialist, Newborn Care Specialist, and Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant serving families throughout Hunterdon County, Warren County, and Somerset County in New Jersey. Before this work, I spent over 20 years in education, which shaped everything about how I support new parents. I am patient. I meet you where you are. And I know that learning to care for a new baby is a process, not a performance.
This work is not just what I do. It is what I was made for.
