The ancient Greeks called her a doula. A woman who serves.
That role is just as important today as it ever was.
That meaning has never been lost. As a postpartum doula serving families throughout Hunterdon County, Warren County, and Somerset County in New Jersey, my job is to show up and meet you exactly where you are. Whether that means hands-on newborn care, breastfeeding and feeding support, postpartum recovery guidance, or simply being a calm and knowledgeable presence in your home during the fourth trimester, I am here to make the transition into parenthood feel less overwhelming and a whole lot more supported. New parents deserve practical help, emotional reassurance, and evidence based guidance during those early weeks. That is exactly what a postpartum doula provides.
Kind Words

I did not think I needed a postpartum doula because I had done this before. My second baby had other plans. Having Joy available by text meant I never had to spiral down a Google rabbit hole at 2am wondering if something was wrong. She always had a real answer and actual reassurance from someone who knows what she is talking about. I recommended her to every single person in my mommy group.

Our daughter turned one and had never slept through the night. Not once. We had tried everything and I was starting to think something was actually wrong with her. Joy looked at the whole picture, gave us a plan that made complete sense, and within ten days our daughter was sleeping twelve hours straight. I cried the first morning I woke up before she did.

I had a C-section and no family nearby. The first two weeks home were honestly scary. Joy came every morning and I cannot overstate what that meant. She took the baby, made sure I was eating, helped me figure out breastfeeding, and just sat with me when I needed to cry. She did not just support my baby. She supported me.
